Morrisons Supermarket announced on Friday, 23rd May that they intend to close approximately 100 stores across the country.
In 2022 Morrisons bought McColls and the Load Street store is the location of our local Post Office, which provides the banking needs for many local residents and importantly for many of our independent businesses.
Mark Garnier MP, on Friday, 23rd contacted both Morrisons and the Post Office for further information and he is currently awaiting a response. Mark has also liaised with Cllr Dan Morehead and his two district colleagues Cllrs Nick Wilson and Emily Bourne in respect of the impact that this news will have on the town.
Since 2016, when the last bank, HSBC, closed, the Post Office has been providing an at the counter banking service and it is imperative that the Post Office remains within the town.
Please do sign this petition which will be sent to the Post Office.
