The Conservative Party Conference announcements you need to know about

The policy announcements from the Conservative Party Conference are good news for Wyre Forest.

Here's what was announced:

  • Our "golden rule": for every £1 we find in savings, half will go on reducing the deficit
  • Scrapping Stamp Duty on primary residences
  • First job bonus for young people - first £5,000 of national insurance contributions will be saved to put towards house deposit for first time buyers (£10,000 for a couple)
  • Saving £23 billion from welfare budget including reducing payments for low level mental health problems and ensuring only British citizens access welfare
  • Cut the civil service back to 2016 levels from 517,000 to 384,000 saving £8 billion
  • Save £1.6 billion by cutting net zero schemes including elements of Miliband's Great British Energy which are bearing down on bills
  • Abolish business rates for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses
  • Review IR35 to cut red tape on business
  • Prioritising housing in London and cities whilst protecting rural greenbelt
  • Abolish the Sentencing Council to ensure sentences reflect crimes
  • Triple Stop and Search for safer streets
  • Ban asylum claims for illegal entrants
  • Deportation of 150,000 illegal immigrants a year, deporting all new illegal arrivals within a week and all foreign criminals
  • End the Immigration Tribunal, Judicial Review and legal aid for immigration cases
