Bewdley to Kidderminster - Speeding Traffic

Saturday, 26 November, 2011

Following complaints from concerned residents of The Lea and Crestwood Avenue regarding speeding traffic, your Conservative Team met with Highways Officers from the County Council to discuss traffic calming measures for traffic travelling towards Kidderminster from the Bewdley direction.

The current placement of the 30 mph is badly sited, but unfortunately cannot be moved and as a consequence drivers are not immediately aware that they are entering a built up area until it is too late.

Following the meeting, Councillor Ken Prosser is pleased to advise that countdown 30 mph markers will be placed between the West Midlands Safari Park and the current sign. “Hopefully this measure will have the effect of slowing traffic down, to make exiting The Lea and Crestwood Avenue safer”, Ken said, and then added, “this will hopefully be a step in the right direction”.

Residents can be assured that the situation following the placement of the new signs will be monitored to try to ascertain whether the measures have the required effect.
